The Index, or Room

At the top of each Folio, to the right of the Head, is the Index. The Index consists of a number and a title, which define the Folios exact position within the Synapse. In the sample folio on the previous page, C6.3, the letter "C" is equivalent to the Head, or general area, of the Myth, while the numerals place the Folio in an increasingly precise location, functioning like the nested categories of an academic outline. In the Reference Labyrinth, the letter places the Folio on a given floor, the first number in a section of that floor, and the second number in a particular room.
